Let’s Start with Color
Before starting any project, I like to start with an inspirational image, a theme, if you will, that brings you back to center during the design process. I have used images of a sculpture, words from a song that create a vision in my mind’s eye, or, as in this case, a photograph of a gorgeous sunset over the ocean.
As Paige and I were brainstorming for this project, she was throwing out catchy phrases so fast I couldn’t keep up. I stopped her when she mentioned color, my favorite. A few quick google searches provided this sunset image - and this is how the Sunset Villa came to life.
The area rug was our first selection pulling anchoring the room with all of the colors of the sunset on a sandy beach background. Next the sofa with chaise, in soft plush gold fabric reflecting golden rays of light throughout the room with pops of blue ocean and sunset toned throw pillows.
The Lexington Outdoor Los Altos Collection perfectly aligned with our theme. The sand-colored metal worked as a great backdrop for a tan cushy chair fabric and elegant dining chair seat fabric. Detailed fretwork highlights this collection’s round dining tabletop and chair backs.
Every piece selected for this room was chosen by asking “Does this reflect the sunset theme in some way?” The Aputure End Tables with amber glass tops were an easy yes! The Gravitas round capris shell top cocktail table was another quick decision made.
It’s easy to pull together a room with Lexington. What theme is calling you?
